On June the 13th a one day study on the global economic scenario and its possible impacts on industrial companies was held in Rome at GDF SUEZ headquarters.

Thirty among the main B2B clients and prospects (representing a potential market of 3.5 TWh in power and 25 TWh in gas) took part to the workshop. Mr Giuseppe Gatti, Chairman of GDF SUEZ Energia Italia, opened the event welcoming the participants and presenting a general picture on the presence and the ambitions of the Group in Italy.

The workshop was organized into two parts: three speeches in the morning and a round table in the afternoon.

  • Mr Carlo Stagnaro (Research and Studies Director of Bruno Leoni Institute) showed an interesting point of view on the European economic background, pointing out the current weaknesses of Europe and suggesting some remarks on possible solutions.
  • Mr Bruno Bensasson ( Head of Strategy and Sustainable Development GDF SUEZ SA) focused his presentation on medium and long term perspectives for energy markets, with a special attention dedicated to demand and supply trends and a deep explanation of how GDF SUEZ strategy can give support to industrial companies in managing risks.
  • The last speech, by Mr Evariste Nyouki (Economist at GDF SUEZ Trading) was about the main trends of commodities markets.

At the round table were seated Dr Valerio Camerano (CEO GDF SUEZ Energie) to moderate over the debate, Dr Andrea Gilardoni (Professor at Bocconi University), Mr Diego Gavagnin (Columnist and Journalist), Mr Massimo Ricci (Head of Markets Directions at AEEG), Mr Luigi Piombi (CEO Burgo Energia) and Mr. Claudio Brizi (Head of Marketing and Sales B2B GDF SUEZ Energie). The aim of the debate, led by Camerano, was to offer to the participants different points of view and different keys to the reading of energy markets, thanks to the contribution of people having different and sometimes complementary backgrounds, experiences and feelings. In such a variegated context GDF SUEZ took on the function of aggregator, showing its leadership in gas and power sales.

The clients appreciated very much the possibility to confront themselves with a 360° vision of the market and were very happy to participate because they could approach all the main aspects of energy markets at the present time.
